FRIENDS’ BUILD A DOCK CAMPAIGN

img_5492Help us build a safe, ADA-compliant float system at Steamer Landing Park to ensure access to the Petaluma River for all. With a $300,000 price tag to design, permit and build a new dock, this is a major project for Friends. With the support of the local community, grants and fundraising events we will meet this challenge!

A new dock will provide safer access during our free Boating at the Barn program every Sunday from 10am to 1pm, giving equal access to everyone in our community; allow more students in our Watershed Classroom program, serving over 1200 students annually with innovative environmental education, to test, monitor and experience the Watershed firsthand; create public access for human-powered crafts in the heart of downtown Petaluma; and restore marsh and riparian habitat at Steamer Landing Park.

WANT TO HELP?

Buy a Board and have a ‘board’ of the dock commemorated in your, or another’s honor. ‘Boards’ are $100 for a commemoration.

HOW FAR ARE WE TO OUR GOAL?

Thanks to a $100,000 matching grant from the Sonoma County Agricultural Preservation & Open Space District, we are 1/3 of the way to our $300,000 goal. Currently staff is reviewing and preparing applications for regional grants that will help us meet our $100,000 match. Through local fundraising events and appeals we hope our community will help complete the funding needed for the Build A Dock project and help promote access to and conservation of the Petaluma Watershed.
