This festival will bring the outer landscapes to the village center.
In collaboration with True Grass Farms and the Petaluma Grazing Collective, Friends seeks to bring awareness to the connectivity of our food choices, how they affect our landscapes, local economies and waterways. This festival aims to create a space for the development of our ecological lexicon; to be a space of education and play both for our children and adults alike; and to enliven the art of grazing.

The Grazing Collective will herd a flock of sheep from the Petaluma hills to downtown Petaluma. The flock will be grazing Steamer Landing Park Peninsula for fire protection and ecological health. The morning will be dedicated to this act of shepherding called “transhumance”. Lunch will be provided by our local butchers at Thistle meats. The afternoon will be dedicated to ecological literacy, workshops and Fibershed-inspired market place. The evening celebrations include dinner of lamb asado and local delicacies paired with wine and music in the River Heritage barn.
