Protecting our Upper River

The upper stretch of the Petaluma River, from the Lynch Creek Trail to Corona Road, is largely undeveloped. This reach is a window into the River’s past with ancient oak trees, seasonal wetlands and abundant wildlife. Join Friends in permanently protecting this fragile ecosystem by creating a ‘Greenway’ along the upper Petaluma River.

A ‘Greenway’ along the upper Petaluma River would increase our community’s resilience to climate change and sea level rise by allowing the existing floodplain to absorb heavy rains and provide a buffer for rising seas. This space would also provide much-needed green space for residents in eastern Petaluma and create a pedestrian transportation corridor to northern Petaluma from downtown.

We want to hear from our community regarding your vision for this stretch of the River. Join Friends’ effort and share your ideas by clicking the link below.
